Survey on training practices on nano and advanced materials for workers safety and health
The PEROSH Nano-Training project launched a survey on training practices on nanomaterials and advanced materials for workers safety and health.
The survey will inform the development and further implementation of guidelines targeting workers involved in manufacturing, handling and processing of nanomaterials and advanced materials, that will be shared with all the network of occupational health and safety organizations in Europe.
We focus on training experiences in the areas of nanomaterials and advanced materials, and more broadly on new materials developments. Nanomaterials and advanced materials are the source of complex and uncertain risks, and thus need robust, informed, resilient, and precaution-based approaches to risk management. Training of all types of personnel engaged in the research, production, and use of these materials in workplace settings is essential to anticipate and prevent safety and health risks. Based on a comparative analysis (including a mapping of several training initiatives all over Europe) and our experience in the field, we identified specific needs for professional training on worker safety and health.
The survey is open to experts active in (one or more) of the fields of advanced materials, nanomaterials, training and education, risk management, occupational health and safety.
If you are interested, you can participate in compiling the survey at the link: https://it.research.net/r/PEROSHtraining
Participants will receive the final guidance documents developed by the project.
The project is promoted by the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health (PEROSH), to develop a guidance for harmonized training modules targeting workers involved in manufacturing, handling and processing of nanomaterials and advanced materials (AM). The Project is coordinated by INAIL (Italy) in cooperation with other PEROSH members Institutes such as INSST (Spain), NFA (Denmark), STAMI (Norway) and TNO (The Netherlands). The project is in partnership with
the Italian Industrial Association (AIRI – Italy), the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC – Belgium), the Nanotechnologies Industries Association (NIA), Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (SNS – Italy), Tyndall National Institute (Ireland) and the EU H2020 Gov4Nano Project.
